The AEM team continues to dress mannequins for Miss America’s appearance in the upcoming Fashion & Function: North Dakota Style exhibit. You’ll be able to view her Miss America sash and beautiful black velvet coronation gown. The coronation gown is gorgeous, and Cara’s North Dakota story of persistence and grit in attaining her Miss America role is inspiring.

Our Audience Engagement & Museum team is busy creating a new exhibit about fashion in our state. We recently selected more than 120 garments and accessories from the state’s collections to tell stories about North Dakota’s evolving sense of style.Watch for Fashion & Function: North Dakota Style to open early in 2021, at the State Museum in Bismarck.

BISMARCK – The Tom and Frances Leach Foundation has given a gift of $600,000 to the expansion of the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck. It was announced December 18 at the North Dakota Heritage Center.

The Sons of Norway Sverdrup Lodge 4-107 in Bismarck presented a $5,000 check to the State Historical Society of North Dakota (SHSND) Foundation June 11 for the North Dakota Heritage Center expansion project. It is part of a statewide campaign led by the Bismarck Lodge to encourage Norwegian-Americans in the state to raise funds to name a meeting room in honor of their Norwegian heritage.
